James Lewis Simpson, III, age 77, of Cadiz, passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at his home.
He was born on May 24, 1947, in Quincy, Illinois, to the late James “Bud” Simpson, II and Olga Neverko Simpson.
After proudly serving in the Illinois National Guard, James had a rewarding career of over 20 years as a machinist at Rockwell International in Chicago, a company which later became Boeing.
James had many interests, but his true passion was being on the lake where he enjoyed fishing, fishing, and fishing. If there was water, he was there, rod in hand, and a grin on his face. His grandkids were the apple of his eye and as “Papa”, he took great delight in teaching them the finer points of fishing. Aside from his family, James also loved his pets, Bernie and Rufus.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Makowijczuk Simpson of Cadiz; his daughters, Christine Reichenberger (Joe) of Plainfield, IL and Ann Niccum of Elizabeth, IL; four grandchildren, Jillian Lindeland (Parker), Valerie Reichenberger, Aubrey Niccum, and Daley Niccum; and two great-grandchildren, Gavin and Emmett Lindeland.
There will be no services at this time.
Arrangements are being handled by Goodwin Funeral Home, Inc., 138 Main Street in Cadiz.
