Jo Ann Acree Osborne, 81, of Hopkinsville, passed away peacefully on January 9, 2025, surrounded by her beloved family and friends. She was born June 2, 1943, in Hopkinsville, KY to Joe and Mary Jane Acree.
For 50 years Jo Ann worked in different roles in the Mental Health Community within the Hopkinsville area. It suited her servant’s heart. She said she did it because she cherished the relationships she forged with people.
Jo Ann, our beloved mother, was the heart of our family. Her love was like a warm embrace that enveloped us all, making us feel safe, cherished, and capable of anything. Mom’s love extended beyond our family. She had a way of making everyone feel welcome in our home. Friends, neighbors, even strangers – Mom treated them all like family. Her generosity knew no bounds, and her kindness touched countless lives. She will be truly missed.
She met the love of her life, Edward H. Osborne, while he was stationed at Ft. Campbell Army Post. They married and made their home in Hopkinsville, KY. Edward preceded her in death in 2020.
Jo Ann peacefully departed to be with the Lord and the love of her life on January 10, 2025, at Jennie Stuart Medical Center. She leaves a large loving and supportive family to cherish memories. Children: Larry (Maria) Osborne of Rapid City, South Dakota, Reginald (Jennifer) Osborne of Owensboro, Kentucky, Kelvin (Leslie) Osborne of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, Lawrence Acree of Paducah, Kentucky, Barbara (Alto) Lee of Henderson, Kentucky, and, bonus daughter Deborah Torain, Henderson, Kentucky, son Uncle Eddie, Nashville, Tennessee; Siblings: Nettie Pearl (Lester) McKay, Chicago, Illinois, Harry (Anne) Acree of Covington, Georgia, William Acree of St Paul, Minnesota, William (Phyllis) Stepp of Indianapolis, Indiana, and, Robert (Arnethia) Stepp of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. She also leaves to cherish her memories her sister-in-law Cecelia Dotson of Athens, Georgia; Numerous nieces, nephews, 17 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, and a multitude of others she fostered over the years.
She was preceded in death by her Father and Mother Joe and Mary Jane Acree; Son Kendell Osborne; brothers Jesse Acree and Frank Acree; and Sister Marjorie Love.
Gamble Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Funeral services will be on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at 12:30 pm at Gamble Funeral Home.
Burial will follow in the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West.
Visitation will be on Wednesday at 11:00 at the funeral home.
