The owner of the vehicle and her roommate were able to stop her vehicle from being stolen on South Jessup Avenue Monday night.

Hopkinsville Police say two suspects were attempting to take a woman’s 2016 Kia Optima by breaking into the steering column and starting the vehicle but were confronted by the owner and her roommate.

The suspect in the driver seat bailed out of the car and fled on foot but the roommate was able to pin the suspect in the passenger side of the vehicle until he yelled “up the gun” making him let the suspect go.

No one was injured in the attempted robbery and the suspects were not located after fleeing the area.

Hopkinsville Police Department Spokeswoman Royale Marfil says if anyone has cameras in the area or if you have any information about this attempted robbery to call the Hopkinsville Christian County Dispatch at 270-890-1300.
