The Hopkinsville Y is hoping to raise more money with its annual campaign than last year. 110 percent is the goal Chair Carter Hendricks is aiming for.
The campaign kicked off Thursday night at The Y's annual meeting.
Last year, the campaign raised $215,000. There are several upcoming fundraiser like the "I Love the 80s to Death" murder mystery dinner theater in March and the Spin for a Cause in May.
Incoming Chief Volunteer Officer, Bennett Greene says The Y uses those funds to make impacts in the community.
Outgoing CVO, Sandy Grogan says the board has had many decisions to make this year.
The board also has plans to repave the parking lot this summer. Grogan adds this year they created a strategic plan.
Greene says there are two things the board will focus on in the coming year.
There is an open house for The Y this Saturday, February 1, from 9 to 11 am.
As part of the Annual Meeting, Executive Director Sheryl Ellis named Mike Pearson the Coach of the Year.
Ellis says the Volunteer of the Year goes to 22-year volunteer Sandy Cavanah.
The Y Role Model of the Year was given to newly promoted Norma LaFoy.
LaFoy joined the staff in 2023 and was recently named Membership Director.
