Hopkinsville Boys & Girls Club Schedules February Open House

Any middle and high school youths, and their parents, interested in becoming a member of the Boys & Girls Club of Hopkinsville Teen Center should clear their calendars.

Because an open house opportunity is on the way.

Planned for 10 AM until 2 PM Saturday, February 15, families will get a clear opportunity for a tour, in order to learn about programs and activities, meet staff, and sign up for membership.

Families will also learn about the coming “Tween Center” — a new program area for sixth and seventh graders, where construction is expected to begin this summer.

Just last year, the Teen Center expanded with the addition of the FabLab, which focuses on workforce readiness and real-world applications through access to 3-D printers, laser cutters, fashion design, audio/video production, podcasting and graphic design.

The Teen Center also houses two additional areas: an e-Sports arena and a coffee shop. The coffee shop will provide refreshments during the open house.

Terrence Davis, executive director, noted the Teen Center continues to be a great opportunity for local teens to have a safe place to go after school — while learning skills that will help them have a great future.

The coming “Tween Center,” he added, will be a much-needed space for students who are old enough to step out of elementary education, but aren’t quite old enough to hang with teenagers.

For more information, call the Club at (270) 887-4020.

Opened in 2017, the Cornell Teen Center at the Boys & Girls Club of Hopkinsville has space for scheduled and informal activities.
