Kentucky Humanities Chautauqua visited the Trigg County community for African American History Month. Virgil Covington, Jr. presented William Wells Brown’s “How I Got My Name” speech. Brown was the first published African American novelist and playwright. Covington not only told William Wells Brown’s life story, but embodied the character. He tells us what message he hopes people take away from the performance.

Genesis Express was among the sponsors for the event. President George Radford talks more about the month.

You can visit the Kentucky Chautauqua website for more information on performances.
