Francis Massinon, Jr., 75, of Hopkinsville

Francis H. Massinon Jr., 75, of Hopkinsville, KY passed away on Wednesday afternoon.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m. Monday, February 24, 2025 at First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dan Huck officiating. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the service hour at the church. Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

A native of Brazil, IN he was born February 24, 1949, the son of the late Francis H. Massinon Sr. and Martha Jane Love Massinon. He loved to compose music. He was a music professor at Austin Peay from 1994 until his retirement in 2014 and continued to work there part time until 2017. He was active in concert orchestras throughout his life. He played French horn in the Brazil Concert Band, Jackson Township Concert Band, Jackson Symphony Orchestra, Paducah Symphony Orchestra and others. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church where he played the organ and the keyboard as a member of the Praise Team.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister: Cathy Rollings.

Survivors include his wife: Bonnie Sue Brown Massinon of Hopkinsville, KY; his son: Gabriel “Gabe” Massinon of Murray, KY; and his sister: Martie Sherwood of Wheatfield, IN.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the Praise Team or the Children’s Music Ministry at First United Methodist Church or any musical organization of one’s choosing.
