A Hopkinsville man was charged with assault after an investigation into injuries the child had Friday afternoon.
Hopkinsville Police say the child was found to have suffered a head injury after his mother took him to the hospital due to marks on his head.
The investigation led to the arrest of the child’s father, 23-year-old Teniko Dunham, who was charged with second-degree assault after he reportedly was supposed to have been watching the child and a second child while their mother went to the doctor.
Police say Dunham claimed he used an open hand to slap his son on the top of the head because he would not stop crying.
