2nd Annual Hummingbird Festival

In some great news, the Jeffers Bend Environmental Center will host the second Annual Hummingbird Festival from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 25, 2024 at the facility on Metcalfe Lane here in Hopkinsville.
The Hummingbird Festival will be hosted by the Jeffers Bend Steering Committee in cooperation with Pennyrile RC&D Area Council, Inc., the local Little River Audubon Society, Christian County Master Gardeners, Hopkinsville Water Environment Authority, TGASK, United Southern Bank, City of Hopkinsville, and USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service.
The Hummingbird Festival will involve banding of Hummingbirds, Indian Folklore about Hummingbirds, Interesting Facts About Hummingbirds, Face Painting, presentation in the Botanical Garden, presentation on pollinators, how to make bird feeders, the value of insects, and feeding birds in the winter months.
There is not a gate fee for the Hummingbird Festival, thanks impart to a grant from USDA-Natural Resources Conservation Service. The second-year event is being held in response to lovers of the little bird supporting efforts being made to attract more birds to Jeffers Bend, over a period of several weeks, culminating with the festival.
Refreshments will be available, along with drawings for bird feeders and other prizes. Note, donations will be accepted and appreciated with the auction of a Hummingbird Cake.
