It’s opening weekend at the Nature Station! In celebration of Dr. Seuss’ birthday on March 2, we are dedicating our first open Saturday of the year entirely to his stories! Join us for a full day of fun Dr. Seuss themed programs where we talk about stories, meet animals, and of course, learn about nature!
11:30am–12pm – If I Ran the Zoo
“If I ran the Zoo, I know just what I’d do. I’d care for Owls, Bobcats, and Wolves too. I’d know Who eats What, and What eats Who. I’d know just what it takes, to run a Zoo.” What does it take to run a Zoo? What would you do? Join us as we talk about animal care, enrichment, and just what it takes to run the Zoo!
1:30–2pm – Green Eggs and Ham
“I do not like green eggs and ham, I do not like them Sam I am. I do not like them here or there, I do not like them anywhere!” See Marsi the opossum in her wild home, see where in her dish her eyes roam. Does she like green eggs and ham or would she prefer a humble yam?
2:30-3pm- What Was I Scared Of?
“What scares you? Scares me? Scares Who? I’m scared of these and those, and fees and foes! Come learn and see, just what to be scared of, you’ll see. Not everything is what it seems, most are as harmless as fleas!” Come meet some snakes, toads, spiders and more! We’ll discuss fears and phobias, which critters are scariest, and which are just harmless.
3:30–4pm – The Cat in the Hat
The sun may shine, or its never too wet to play, come join our bobcat on this awesome day! We’ve got some great tricks for Nature Stations’ favorite cat: we might give him a toy, perhaps even a hat! There’s no telling what Barkley will do, so come check out this program made especially for you!
