Elkton Rotary Firecracker 5K and Fun Run- ENTER by July 5th
July 5, 2023
The Rotary Club of Elkton, Kentucky announces the 1st Annual “Firecracker 5K and Fun Run” on July 15, 2023.
The event will include a 5K run/walk that will begin at the Milliken Memorial Community House at 7:30AM, travel through historic downtown Elkton, and finish at the Todd County Welcome Center on Elkton Square. A 1-mile kids fun run will begin on the Elkton Square at 8:30AM. Prizes will be awarded to the top 3 male and female finishers.
“Elkton Rotary is thrilled to introduce this race and we hope it will become a favorite annual event that’s fun for the participants and beneficial to the local schools,” says Elkton Rotary President, Tiffany Groves.
Proceeds from the event will benefit the Todd County Schools Family Resources & Youth Services Centers to provide new shoes to local students in need through the Happy Feet program, a nonprofit group developed to help remove one the stumbling blocks to optimum school performance by providing shoes to every student in need.
Each entry in the Firecracker 5K will provide one new pair of shoes. The Todd County FRYSC estimates that 200 pairs of shoes are needed.
Online registration can be found on the Rotary Club of Elkton Facebook page, or forms can be picked up at the Todd County Public Library or the Todd County Welcome Center. Early registration deadline is July 5. All 5K participants who register before July 5 will receive a free t-shirt.
Those who would like to support the event, but do not wish to participate in the race are still encouraged to register. “You can just enter, don’t do anything, get a free t-shirt, and know that you’ve just provided a local kid in need with a new pair of shoes for the upcoming school year!” says Elkton Rotary Member, Rhonda Werner.
The Firecracker 5K is sponsored by the Milliken Memorial Community House, Tonja West – Home Front Real Estate, Todd County Chamber of Commerce, Weathers Drugs, Elkton Bank & Trust, Holly Bivins – Edward Jones Investments, Novelis, Blount Rural Health Center, ELPO Law, McGhee Engineering, and Logan Primary Care – Elkton.
