Hopkinsville YMCA Mini Triathlon- Registration Due

The Hopkinsville Christian County Family YMCA will be having its first Mini Triathlon at its location on Eagle Way Bypass beginning at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 31.
“The Hopkinsville Christian County YMCA promotes the vital link between physical activity and the lifelong maintenance of good health, and we are constantly looking for new and innovative ways to offer that to our community,” Hopkinsville-Christian County YMCA Senior Program Director Joe Wilson said.
“By offering a mini triathlon, we can expand other avenues of fitness and offer another option for activity in our community.”
Competitors in the mini triathlon will swim in the YMCA pool for 10 minutes before a 15-minute transition to get to the indoor cycling bikes in the YMCA aerobics room. They will bike for 30 minutes, followed by a 10-minute transition to the front of the YMCA where they will run or walk for 20 minutes.
Volunteers will record the distances of each participant in each event and tabulate the final score.
“This triathlon is based on time rather than distance, which makes it friendlier to the casual competitor,”
Wilson said. “The great thing about this event is participants can enter as an individual, or if they know two others who may be strong in other categories, they can sign up as a team. One person can swim, one can bike, and one can run or walk.”
Registration is available online at hopkinsvilleymca.org, at the Hopkinsville YMCA, or at runsignup.com. through July 23. There is no race day registration.
