Pre-registration-Missoula Children’s Theatre-HANSEL AND GRETEL
June 9, 2021 @ 8:00 am - July 12, 2021 @ 5:00 pm
Pre-registration has begun for the Missoula Children’s Theatre production of HANSEL AND GRETEL for July 12-17. The cost to participate is $50. Local students entering 1st grade through 12th grade are encouraged to register at pennyroyalarts.org.
Casting will take place Monday, July 12 at the Alhambra Theatre from 10:00am
-12:00pm. Those participating should arrive at 10:00 am and plan to stay for the full two hours. Some of the cast members will be asked to stay for a rehearsal immediately
following the auditions. No advance preparation is necessary. A limited number of
scholarships are available.
Among the roles to be cast are those intrepid adventurers – Hansel and Gretel, their
Granny, the Wildwood Witch and her loyal servants the crafty cooks, modern day
campers – somehow lost in time in the wood, lots of Rascals – denizens of the deep and
a flock of cuddly Wallybirds. Assistant Directors will also be cast to aid in rehearsals
throughout the week and to take on essential backstage responsibilities.
The Pennyroyal Arts Council is no stranger to the Missoula productions—in years past,
area children have starred in productions of “Snow Queen”, “Robin Hood”, “Frog
Prince”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, “Emperor’s New Clothes”, and more. MCT is the
nation’s largest touring children’s theatre, has been touring extensively for over 40 years from Montana to Japan, and they will visit over 65,000 children in 1200 communities in all 50 states and 17 countries this year.
The Missoula Children’s Theatre touring productions are complete with costumes,
scenery, props and makeup. The MCT Tour Actor/Directors will conduct rehearsals
throughout the week, and they will be based on each child’s assigned role in the play.
Most students will rehearse 4 1/2 hours each day, from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm.
HANSEL AND GRETEL will be presented on Saturday, July 17 at 4:00 pm in the
Alhambra Theatre. The Pennyroyal Arts Council presents the Missoula Children’s
Theatre residency in Hopkinsville locally with support from Flynn Enterprises.
