July 18, 2021 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
THOMAS AND BRIDGES FAMILIES TO GATHER FOR THEIR 50TH ANNUAL FAMILY REUNION The Reunion Committee of the Thomas–Bridges Association is pleased to announce the celebration of their 50thAnniversary by hosting a reception in the fellowship hall of the Cadiz Christian Church on Sunday, July 18 from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. CST. There is plenty of parking available at the church and in the City of Cadiz municipal parking lot across the street. The facility is handicap accessible and if you park in the lower lot you may use the elevator to the upper level. All family members, whether members of The Thomas –Bridges Association, Inc. or not, are invited to attend the reception. The Thomas–Bridges Association normally hosts a three–day event for their annual reunion, but because of restrictions associated with the ongoing global pandemic of COVID–19, the reunion is limited this year to this special reception. Families are urged to visit Thomas–Bridges home places, churches, and cemeteries during the weekend and then join in the celebration at the Cadiz Christian Church on Sunday afternoon. The board of directors hopes to return to a three–day event in 2022. The Association has a current membership of over 500. The Thomas–Bridges Association was founded in 1971 by descendants of James Thomas, Sr. and Drury Bridges, two of Trigg County’s early pioneer settlers. Both James Thomas and Drury Bridges moved from North Carolina to western Kentucky. Drury and his family arrived in 1804 and settled on 84 acres of land on Beechy Fork Creek in what would become the community of Maple Grove. James, a veteran of the American Revolution, arrived in 1806 and settled on 200 acres of land in the heart of what would become the Donaldson community and is located at the modern intersection of the Donaldson and Cadiz roads. James Thomas had seven children, three of whom married into DruryBridges’ family of seven children, thus a reunion could not be held without both families being present, and doing so was customary throughout the twentieth century and became an annual occurrence with the organization of The Thomas –Bridges Association, Inc. fifty years ago.
