THOMAS-BRIDGES FAMILIES-52nd ANNUAL FAMILY REUNION
July 22, 2023 - July 23, 2023
THOMAS-BRIDGES FAMILIES TO GATHER FOR
THE 52nd ANNUAL FAMILY REUNION
The 52nd annual Thomas-Bridges family reunion will be held Saturday, July 22 through Sunday, July 23, 2023 in Cadiz, KY. Descendants of James Thomas, Sr. and Drury Bridges, two of Trigg County’s early pioneer settlers will meet for two days of fun and fellowship. Both James Thomas and Drury Bridges moved from North Carolina to western Kentucky. Drury and his family arrived in 1804 and settled on 84 acres of land on Beechy Fork Creek. James arrived in 1806 and settled on 200 acres of land at what is now the intersection of the Donaldson and Cadiz roads. James Thomas had seven children, three of whom married into Drury Bridges’ family of seven children, thus a reunion could not be held without both families being present.
The two-day event is sponsored by The Thomas-Bridges Association which was founded in 1971 and has over 300 members. All family members, whether members or not, are invited to the reunion. The affair offers a wide variety of events with plenty of time in between to sit, relax, talk over old times, share family history, and start new traditions.
At 5:00 pm Saturday evening, July 22, events will begin at the Trigg County Senior Citizen Center at 127 Joy Lane with the meeting of the TBA Board of Directors and Members Business Meeting. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with the “Welcome Home Wiener Roast” which will be held at the West Cadiz Park. The event is sponsored by the Allison W. & Catherine (Carloss) Thomas family. Plenty of time will be available for family socializing and live music.
On Sunday, July 23, the Annual Family Luncheon will start at 12:00 pm with a meet and greet and serving begins at 12:30 p.m. at the Trigg County Senior Citizen Center. All lunch reservations must be purchased in advance, as meals will only be prepared for those with reservations. Checks for you and your family’s tickets should be received by mail by Wednesday, July 19 to The Thomas-Bridges Association Reservations, P. O. Box 85, Cadiz, KY 42211. The cost is $17.00 per adult age 13 and up and $14.00 per child age 12 and under.
The Sunday afternoon program will begin at 1:30 pm and will include a roll call of states, visitor recognition, recognition of the older and younger attendees, those who traveled the farthest to attend, and memorial tribute for all who have passed away since the last reunion. The reunion will have their traditional closing with the group singing, “My Old Kentucky Home.”
