Watch Party for the Total Solar Eclipse
April 8 @ 12:00 pm - 4:00 pm
FREEThe sky goes *partially* dark again!
The Museums of Historic Hopkinsville-Christian County, Visit Hopkinsville, and Hopkinsville Parks & Recreation is hosting a Watch Party for the Total Solar Eclipse on Monday, April 8, 2024. The community is invited to gather at the Hopkinsville Visitor’s Center from 12pm until 4pm for fun activities and to view the eclipse with friends.
Hopkinsville falls just outside the path of totality, but we will still experience a partial eclipse. That means that the moon will block out most – but not all – of the sun for a period of time. The partial eclipse will begin before 1pm, will be at its greatest at 2:03pm, and will conclude just after 3pm. Eclipse glasses should be worn at all times if outside and looking at the sun. Eclipse glasses are available for purchase at the Visitors Center for $1.00 (while supplies last).
The watch party will also be a time to commemorate and remember Christian County’s place as the Point of Greatest Eclipse for the Great American Eclipse on August 21, 2017. Food trucks, crafts, snacks, games, music, and a simple sense of community are on the agenda for the afternoon! Drop in for a bit or stay the whole time.
The watch party will be held at the Hopkinsville Visitors Center located at 1730 East 9th Street. The event is FREE to attend.
