When you first begin something, you always wonder how long it will last. When Cindy Allen and Alan Watts began hosting the WKDZ Country Club it was somewhat by chance. Alan took over the show after David Fowler and he recruited Cindy to read the Community Calendar at 7:45. That reading of the Community Calendar has turned into the longest-running morning show team in the Cadiz-Hopkinsville area. Other shows may be older, but no team has worked together longer than Alan and Allen.
Since that first reading of the Community Calendar, Alan and Allen have helped listeners start their day with the local news at 6, 7 and 8, What’s Happening, Church News, the Pet Corner, and a number of visits with people on the show.
A wide variety of guests have shared their time with Alan and Allen, including Governors Paul Patton, Ernie Fletcher, Steve Beshear and Matt Bevin. The Country has also hosted visits with the United States Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, Senator Rand Paul and a number of other officials and dignitaries. And we have frequent visits with local community leaders, girl scouts, veterans and others who are a large part of the community we live in.
I think the greatest thing for both of us is that we get to help other people start their day off. One of the greatest compliments is when someone tells us we make their day better.
I was born and raised in Princeton, Kentucky, and graduated from Caldwell County High School in 1974. I moved to Trigg County in the summer of ’74. Celebrating 28 years, with Ham Broadcasting Company in April 2021, I am Senior Marketing Specialist for the sales team of WKDZ/WHVO, and I serve as co-host of the Country Club with Alan Watts (I’m the Allen half of Alan & Allen) heard weekday mornings 6:00 to 9:00 on WKDZ 106.5FM AND 100.9FM.
So many things have changed during my years at WKDZ/WHVO but one thing hasn’t…that’s my love for our communities and the services that we provide our listeners. I love helping keep you informed and hopefully entertained and I love helping businesses grow!

Along with Kerry came two more wonderful daughters-Jennifer and Emmy, 3 grandsons—Jacob, Kerry, and Josh, and one granddaughter-Mackenzie. That’s a grand total of 7! But wait there’s more!. Emmy married on January 1, 2011, and became an amazing mom to two girls and a boy–. Reilly, Micah, and Madeline! A GRAND total of 13 grandchildren…. Life is Good for the Lax family!!
Kerry and I attend Hopewell Baptist Church in Kuttawa. We love little day trips, 400-mile yard sales, flea markets, auctions, and discovering unique places to eat. Kerry has a lot of hobbies in addition to outdoor activities and he’s a fabulous cook! I am indeed blessed.
I enjoy serving the community and helping my clients market their business. It’s truly a blessing to look forward to coming to work every day—especially after 28 years!
